User Categories
Undergraduate Students
The undergraduate student category includes all students classified as “undergraduate” by the Northwestern University Registrar. This generally includes all students pursuing a bachelor's degree, including fifth-year senior students.
Undergraduate students can use the following labs and facilities:
- 3D Printing & Rapid Prototyping Lab
- Segal Prototyping & Fabrication Lab
- The Garage (Only if registered in a Garage program)
- Research Shop (Only if work is research-related)
- Mechatronics Lab
- Corner Makery
Graduate Students
The graduate student category includes all students classified as “Graduate” by the Northwestern University Registrar. This generally includes all students pursuing a Masters or PhD degree, regardless of enrollment duration.
Graduate students can use the following labs and facilities:
- 3D Printing & Rapid Prototyping Lab
- Electronics Shop
- The Garage (Only if registered in a Garage program)
- Research Shop
- Mechatronics Lab
- Corner Makery
Staff
The staff category includes all university employees classified as “staff” by the Northwestern Human Resources office. This includes staff categorized as exempt, non-exempt, temporary staff, postdoctoral fellows, research staff, and department affiliates.
Staff members can use the following labs and facilities:
Faculty
The faculty category includes all university employees classified as “faculty” by the Northwestern Human Resources Office. This includes all tenure and non-tenure track faculty, full, assistant, associate, and clinical professors, and lecturers.
Faculty members can use the following labs and facilities:
Non-Affiliated
People who are not currently affiliated with Northwestern University are categorized as non-affiliated. This includes alumni, project sponsors and advisors, affiliated persons family members, and all others not included in previous categories.
Non-affiliated people can use the following labs and facilities:
- Research Shop (Professional Shop Only)
