Curriculum Work

Curriculum work is defined as design or fabrication work, as part of projects or classwork associated with a Northwestern-based course within the current active quarter. This includes any course in any school, for either undergraduate or graduate students.

Research Work

Research work is defined as design or fabrication work for a Northwestern-based faculty research lab, research institute, or independent study & thesis projects conducted within a faculty lab.

Personal Work

Personal work is defined as projects not affiliated with any research lab or course at Northwestern, but conducted by a Northwestern-affiliated student, staff, or faculty member. Persons not affiliated with Northwestern are not covered by this category.

Startup Work

Startup work is defined as design or fabrication work for a northwestern-affiliated or northwestern-based student startup company. Formal recognition by the university is required to be considered a startup - otherwise work will fall under the personal category.
