Northwestern is a world-class research institution, with state of the art fabrication facilities which provide a foundation for research in manufacturing. The investigation of new fabrication methods, at all size scales, as well as the teaching of manufacturing as a part of design and product development, are core focuses of various centers and research labs throughout Northwestern.

Northwestern Initiative for Manufacturing Science and Innovation
The Northwestern Initiative for Manufacturing Science and Innovation (NIMSI) will undertake multi-disciplinary research and education initiatives associated with manufacturing across the broad spectrum that impact both mass-production manufacturing and emerging hyper-customized and personalized manufacturing.
Digital Manufacturing and Design Innovation Institute
Northwestern is a founding partner of the Digital Manufacturing and Design Innovation Institute, a federally-funded research and development organization of UI LABS, which encourages factories across America to deploy digital manufacturing and design technologies in order to become more efficient and cost-competitive.

mHUB
