Northwestern is home to a wide variety of fabrication resources for both students and faculty members. Each facility targets a certain group of users, and may either provide access to equipment for student/faculty use, or provide prototyping/manufacturing services for courses and research work.
Machine Shops and Prototyping Labs
Machine shops and prototyping labs provide access and services to equipment for the development of physical and electrical components, with capabilities ranging from wood & hand tools to CNC and 3D-printed components.
Core and Shared Facilities
Core facilities are a critical resource for the University’s research infrastructure, supporting groundbreaking work across multiple disciplines. These facilities provide instrumentation and technical support, operating on a fee-for-service basis.
